Academic Achievements  
The Department of Transfusion Medicine has played an important role in the academic development of this specialty. It has contributed in increasing the manpower in blood banking through training and teaching.  
a) CME (Continuing Medical Education)  
CME are being regularly held in the department on "Rational use of blood t". They are for imparting knowledge to the medical officers and technicians from all over the state of Uttar Pradesh.  
CME was held on "NAT Implication in Current Indian Scenario" in order to orient the medical staff regarding the significance of NAT. Panel discussions hhwere also organized by many private practioners along with the department. These discussions encouraged and motivated people to realize the importance of blood transfusion and the problems faced therein.  
b) Seminars  
The Department organized "Orientation seminar for interns" on July 2014 in the seminar hall of Biochemistry. It was inaugurated by Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Ravi Kant. Lecture was taken on "Rational use of blood" by Dr. Tulika Chandra.The doctors were trained regarding blood transfusion and clinical use of component therapy. These budding doctors are our future and need to be made aware of changes in the transfusion field. The Occasion was graced by Prof. Abbas Mehndi, Head, Department of Biochemistry and Prof . S.C. Tiwari, Chief Medical Superintendent, KGMU.  
c) Workshops  
Wet Workshop on "Immunohematology and automation" was organized by the Department which was attended by participants all over the state. Eminent speakers Dr Aseem Tiwari from Medanta, Gurgaon, Dr. Poonam Shrivastava from Rotary Blood Bank and Prof RK Chaudhary from SGPGI, Lko helped us in the training and teaching curriculum.  
Orthodioagnostics with the support of AATM helped us to organize the workshop. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Ravi Kant , Honourable Vice Chancellor, KGMU. Prof SC Tiwari, Chief Medical Supintendent, Prof Narsingh Verma, Prof. Mastan Singh, Prof SN Shankwar also graced the occasion and encouraged us.  
d) Residents Training  
Department of Community Medicine and Public Health has started an initiative under the guidance of Prof JV Singh, Head Department of Community Medicine to train their residents in blood banking. Department of Transfusion Medicine trains each resident of Community Medicine for 15 days in various aspects of blood banking. This has initiated an awareness drive in the institute and helps the medical fraternity to be aware of transfusion practices  
e) Blood Grouping Cards for the Nurses  
Blood grouping cards were made for all our nurses trainee as an initiative by our Honourable Vice Chancellor. By this procedure we provided them a practical documentation of their blood groups as well as encouraged them to realize the importance of blood transfusion foe patient benefit. Blood grouping cards were made and distributed to all of them under the guidance of our Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Ravi Kant and Prof. JV Singh.
